Hey guys, I need to ask you a question about stereo systems, and I really hope you can help me out.

Ok so I have this average Kenwood CD deck, 45x4 watts totall power.  I have two Pioneer 4" speakers in the front and 2 6x9" speakers in the back.

Sometimes, after listening to music for about half an hour straight, on high volumes, all of a sudden the sound goes faint, lowers in volume and a kinda of static comes over them too.  :(

If I lower the volume, and raise it back up, everything sounds normal again...but then the same shit happens again in about a minute.  >:(

What the fuck can be causing this? How can I fix it?  There is nothing worse then cruising down the street listening to a heavy In Flames tune  and then having it die out on me...  ::)

hmmmmmm, what power are the 3 ways? maybe the head unit is being pused to it's limits and sould be sort o cutting out or sumthin like that........i would take it to a professional to see, but i think it might be a good idea to get a small amp to power the 3ways, it will also sound better that way too

LOOKS GOOD JUGGSTER..... DO YOU COVER THAT STUFF UP WHEN PARKING ON THE STREET, OR CAN IT BE SEEN  ??? HOPE YOU HAVE GOOD SECURITY SYSTEM ON THERE. ONE GOOD ADVICE I HEARD HERE IS TURN IT DOWN BEFORE YOU GET WHERE YOUR GONNA PARK IT. TO REDUCE THE INTEREST IN YOUR RIDES VALUE  ;D

Most likely the internal amplifier of your head unit is over heating, When people purchase a head unit they think that they have 45 watts per channel or 50 watts per channel. When in fact it is about half that. The rating that they post is the maximum power the unit can put out in a short burst, which manufacturers either call peak power or max power. Usually the RMS power on a head unit or maximum continuous power is around 22-25 watts. This is fine when powering some 4 inch speakers or some 4x6's. But when you start putting 6x9's on them at high volumes it draws too much and overheats the deck. IMHO you should get a small 4 channel amp and run all your speakers off it, it would sound a lot better. You'll be suprised.

Oh yeah, that's sounds right! Thanks guys...yeah the 4"s have a max out put of 100 watts and the 6x9"s have a max output of 350 watts...

Shit, I'm going to have to get an amp then...  thanks for all the info guys, that's very helpful.  I feel another weekend project coming on. :D

becareful amping the interior speakers lol..it will sound good but it WILL kill ur hearing in a heartbeat that kinda ruins the fun

its different when ur ears are just getting bombarded by tones u dont use 100% of the time..but when u start to mess with tones that the human voice uses u really start to miss out on things lol trust me =)

before i sell my subs i will take a pic and show u guys =)
