Exessive pressure build up in gas tank
« on: April 11, 2010, 01:11:54 PM »
 Hi guys! Need your input.
I have what seems like a pressure build up in my gas tank, gets severe after I fill her up,gas poors out the tube that feeds
the charcoal canister from the tank and I mean POORING out.If the canister is used, well it poors out of the bottom of the
canister.Last week I foud out that the gas cap seal was defective and gas was leaking (pissing) out the cap, replaced since
then. Now the hose feeding the canister is plugged whit a bolt and the canister is long gone and gas is still seeping past the bolt.
Any ideas??

Simon.

What kind of gas cap did you get? sure it's correct for your vehicle? It should be vented, but there is always some pressure in the tank due to the return system for the fuel injection. I did remove my charcol canister on my 95 when I did my turbo, but I put a small filter in it's place. I don't think you should plug that line to the canister, I believe that will cause more pressure build up.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

Thanks, yes i've replaced it with an appropriate cap, actually now that you mention it,I could put in some kind of filter instead of
plugging that tube for now.I will end up putting in a new canister anyway some time this summer.I'm quite annal when it comes
to keeping it as original as possible, aside from suspension and drive train of course.
