raising the drivers seat 1-2" with billet risers, anyone ever tried it?

raising the drivers seat 1-2" with billet risers, anyone ever tried it?

Being I'm a really short dude, and well, the stock seat sits both too low by about 1-2" and really wont sit any farther upright like I'd like,  can I safely have a set of billet aluminum risers so to speak made to serve the purpose of raising my seat up enough to help improve my view of where my rig's edges are?

Don't see why not. Have you thought about just having them re-upolstered with taller foam?

Maybe try four chunks of 2x2 box steel for spacers. Drill a hole through it and get some longer bolts.
I cut / welded Dodge Avenger seats in my last Kick and  Volvo 740 seats into my current Tracker.
I set them up higher both times and I find it helps with the visibility.

Well, I visited the steel shop today and  have an idea in mind,  I'll be documenting it if I remember to so others can use the idea later. some 2x2x1/8" square tube and a little 1.5x1/4" steel stock for mounting tabs, plus some welding, and I"ll have 2" of elevation.   

visibility is the whole idea, when you've got long legs and a SHORT torso, like 12 year old boys are taller, its kinda helpful to do everything you can.

associated idea ( I'm 5'10")
years ago as my seat was giving me back ache I slipped and bit of  3/8th hardboard under the seat base bewteen the foam and spring wires, which made the seat base both more comfortable and I seemed to be about an 1" higher

I just installed heated leather seats from an 02 Outback and used tubular steel risers I fab'd myself it was a piece of cake

I got bored a few nights ago, and did a (very) crude mockup with some 3.5x3.5" landscape timber pieces to elevate the seat,and I'm settling on raising it 3" for my needs. 

The tricky part I think is going to be the front mounts, since I've got to create some sort of way to keep the mounts in the right spots.

I made the risers today.  cost me JUST under 18 for materials,  and probably lunch for my buddy tomorrow for doing the welding work.   
By raising the seat using a 2x3" tube basically, I also gained a spot for my breaker bar up in the front tube so its out of my way, but handy if I need it.   The change enhanced my driving confidence/comfort by about 500%, and simply put, I can see everything I was hoping to see around me.  best $20 mod ever.

I have a six D cell Maglight wedged between the passenger seat and the drive line fire wall.

its great having that spot,  I might raise the passenger side the same way just for the fun of it.
