'87 Samurai ignition question?
« on: May 15, 2010, 03:13:43 PM »
My '87 Sammy has had a screwdriver driven into the ignition, failed theft attempt.  I got the lock to turn again with the key but if it's supposed to it doesn't lock the column. I can't find a replacement and if I use it as is I'm worried about the steering wheel locking when I don't want it to. I'm going to be towing it flat with a towbar.
All response appreciated.

You can also give Hawk Suzuki a call, they should be able to hook you up with the parts you need.  They are great to deal with when it comes to non-standard part replacements.

if you do not ever want it to lock again you could probably cut/grind off the part that locks into the side of the steering shaft, not necessarily the best way to go but it is cheap LOL
