1987 samurai gauge cluster not working
« on: September 27, 2010, 07:23:04 PM »
i have a 87 sammi which the gauge cluster doesnt work. The illumination lights, speedo, high beam indicator, turn signals, brake light work though.   the 4wd indicator light, fuel gauge, tach, and temp gauge do not work. also the white red and blue wires that go to the sensor switch under the dash are cut and the switch is not there. trying to get everything to work again, any help would be appreciated.

if a bigger hammer, bigger tires or more gas doesn't help... your doing it wrong.

once you get it there are directions that are pretty good.  4 wires:gree, black(ground), red(power), White(power thats supposed to go to the ignition so a light will come on when you turn on the key).  I cut and dont use the white on bc i didnt feel like pullin the clusterf*** of wire out and splicing it.  Its not hard at all, you'll be surprised how easy itll be.  you can pull out the old on by using a knife andprying it out, reach up under and feel the wires, cut them and pull em out.  then you can either rerun it through how it was or adapt it however you want to bring it thru the firewall.
