if u have a manual trackkick you have 4:62's right?
and auto is 5:12 right?
can u put auto gears in a manual trackkick?
Actually, if you have an auto 2 door it has 4.62s or 4.30s, depending on how old the truck is. If you have a 4 door, the 4 speed auto and 5 speed manual both use 5.12s. The v6 auto GV has 4.88s. Not sure about the 5 speed manual yet.
If you put manual gears in a 2 door auto, it hauls ass with 31s. Putting 2 door auto gears in a manual, it would be a slug even with stock size tires.
I put 5.12s in a couple of sammies with 31s, they both worked very well without overrevving the engine much at all.
You have to remember that the bigger tires are also heavier. If you actually have a good amount of horsepower, it is no big deal. But if you own a real Suzuki, you don't have horsepower. If you have just slightly lower than the gear calc says to use, you will very happy on the freeway.
If you are concerned about revving too high, just remember where the zuki engines run from the factory. Currently, I am driving a small tired 16v 5 speed 4 door kick. It runs about 4100 at 75, same as my sammy with 35s with the same drivetrain plus a sammy t-case. Perfect power band for a 1.6 in a lighter truck like a sammy. But, a small engine can easily handle a few extra revs on the freeway.
