How to run 33" tires
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:40:42 PM »
I have a SPOA on samurai axles....I would like to eventually go to 33" tires without rubbing or as little rubbing as possible...

What's the right way to do it?  What's the best blend of economical/practical way to do it?

cut the tubes off that hold the stock front bumper on, get some plate say 1.5 inch wide by 5.0 inches long x2 and drill two holes in each one about one inch appart to move your front axle forward,  hammer the seam up behind the front tires and to the side on the vertical seam and your good to go.

Is that like the RUF ?  Doing the same thing? Right now my rear springs are in the rear...the tubes were cut off by the previous owner. I'm half way there! Lol

if you can see my avatar the red Sammie has the ruf or rear springs up front from rocky road, they came on it, and sitting on 33's, you would then use the plate to move the axle back I believe depending on your drag link hitting or not. it hits or rubs very little, just remember to keep yours front wheels straight if your getting with it climbing a hill to save the front end.

Trail Tough YJ kit.
then setup your bumpstops correctly.

Rides good, stretches good..... almost complete (missing the YJ springs) and easy to install kit.

The desciption here says it is "Perfect for 33" tires"....

Can a tracker PS setup on a samurai still be ran with a RUF ? Maybe that has nothing to do with one another...i can't really visualize it

Yes, the RUF doesn't slide the axle far enough forward that you need to move the steering box.
