Place the truck in 4-wd. Drive forward to engauge hubs if auto locking hubs.  Just turn and lock if manual.

Jack up front wheels one at a time.  Turn wheel by hand and look to see if CV shaft is turning.   If it is not turing then the hub is not engauged.

If the front drive shaft is turning with the truck in gear & 4wd engauged (Ignition off) as you turn the front tire then the T-case in not working properly.

A proper working 4wd system would not let the front wheel turn at all.

I remember the post, he has manual hubs.

Put the truck into 2hi and lock the hubs in. With the truck parked, engine off, reach under the front and try to turn one then the other front cv shaft by hand. If either one turns, the hub on that side is not locking. Take it apart, clean it and re-lube it and all should be well again!

If neither cv shaft turns, the hubs are working, but something in the diff is wrong...

I  took my hub apart, and it was in pretty bad shape, I cleaned and greased it.  I got the peice inside to slide in and it now is locked, but after i got it all back together, it won't unlock.  The switch turns, but the CV can't be manually turned anymore while in 2 high with the hub locked or unlocked.  Should I buy a new hub, and how bad is it to drive the car with one hub locked.

Just be sure you got it all back together right first. As you unlock the hub, there are two prongs that pull the splined ring off the cv spline, thus unlocking the hub. If you don't have the 2 prongs in the right place when you re-assemble the hub, it wont unlock. Look closely and you'll be able to see where they go... Stick with the stock hubs, they stay on the truck better and are fully rebuildable and work just fine once lubed up...
