« on: April 16, 2012, 05:24:05 PM »
Hello all,
I have a 86 samurai JX with a old man EMU lift on it, my question is can i or should i still do a spring over axle lift on it? if so are there any extra parts im going to need?

If i cant do this can someone please explain to me what a spring over axle consists of, another term for it is SPOA right?

OME springs are not recommended for spoa lifts.

I imagine it is because people do not set their SPOA bumpstops up correctly (2" of uptravel as per Brent at TT) and the OME springs compress beyond what they were intended to do.  Too much compression results in the springs bending and/or breaking.

Soft ride springs.= spring sag on a SPOA....
If one was to use 6" spring perches, proper bump stops , and a good high steer system etc. OME's would probably be fine.
OME won't warrentee there springs on a SPOA system for liability issues. But very few spring manufacturers will.....Boxcar
