I have searched for hours and I cant find the procedure for setting the timing. I screwed up and let the camshaft rotate while trying to get the pulley bolt off to change the seal.
I'll try to download a manual from one of the pay sites when I get home today but im not holding my breath.
Whats a guy gotta do to earn some respect around here?

Go to autozone.com, and you can download any manual you need for free.  You just need to sign up with them first.

If you didn't remove the distributor, then it is very simple.  Turn the cam pulley, so the mark on it points at 12:00 (there is an indention on the top of that black plate that sits behind the cam pulley, to line the mark up with).  Turn the crank, so that the mark (it is either a dot or a line) on the timing belt cog is at 12:00 and lines up with the arrow/pointer that is cast into the oil pump (the mark on the oil pump is just right above the timing belt cog, so it might be hard to see...might need a mirror and/or light, to make sure the marks line up).  Once both the cam and crank marks are exactly at 12:00 and lined up with their respective alignment marks, put the timing belt on.

Awesome, you have both helped me!
That autozone repair manual at first looked like the crappy chiltons guide but then showed some great pictures. I need pictures sometimes... most of the time. Who am i kidding, after 5 hours of sifting through internet dust I always need pictures.

I have my doubts about the distributor timing, but it seems like once I have the crank and cam timed together the distributor wont be too hard. I want to pull it to do the seal anyway before I drop it in the samurai.

I found this http://www.kickfix.xpg.com.br/IGN_timing/16v-procedure.html#coarse to help me with the dizzy.

Once you have the cam to crank phasing set, the distributor will be easy.  Just rotate the crank, so the mark on the crank pulley is lined up with the 0 mark on the timing belt cover (if you don't have the timing belt cover on, just line the mark on the timing belt crank cog up to the mark on the oil pump, like I explained before).  Then take the distributor cap off and the distributor rotor should be pointing either at the location of the #1 cylinder or the #4 cylinder distributor cap tower (make a mark with a marker on the side of the distributor base, that lines up with the end of the rotor).  Also note the distributor adjustment location (it should be near the center of the adjustment range, on the adjustment bracket...you can make a marker mark on that too, so you can get it close to the original position, when you reinstall the distributor).  Then just take the bolt out for the distributor hold down/adjustment, pull the distributor out (you will notice the rotor will rotate as the distributor is removed...remember this).  Replace the oring on the distributor shaft and remove the distributor housing and replace that oring too (the housing oring is usually the one that leaks anyway).  Then when you reinstall the distributor you need to make sure the rotor is pointing exactly to the same point as it was before removal, once the distributor is fully seated back into the housing....also make sure the marks on the adjustment bracket line up too.
If you did everything correctly, the distributor to cam phasing should be correct and the timing should be set back to where it was before distributor removal...but I would verify the timing, with a timing light, once you get the engine installed.

be careful using the 16 valve directions, the distributor turns the other direction from the 8 valve engine.
