Gear Oil Q?
« on: March 30, 2004, 02:00:59 AM »
I got a question...

We somehow have a surplus of 85W 140 Gear Oil. My question is, can this oil be used in place of the 80W 90 that the  truck calls for? What would be the pros and cons of doing this?

Anybody know?

Sorry for such a silly question....

Heather !!!

Good Morning !!
;D

I think in the Diffs it would be fine, I'm not
sure it would be a good idea in the T-case,
unless it's a gear to gear type, if the oil is too
thick in a chain T-case it could stretch the chain
if you ran too fast when it's cold outside, and it
never gets cold in Idaho does it   ::)
