Recharging AC on 1997 sidekick
« on: May 25, 2017, 04:24:34 PM »
Greetings, Replaced the engine on 1997 Sidekick. Had to open the AC system the 134a was evacuated~

The AC System in now closed no AC parts were replaced.

Question: I shouldn't have to add oil when recharging is my thought as no oil leaked out? Is that correct?

I haven't done AC work for years~have my manifold guages and vacuum pump~ I don't plan to add dye but will leave the pumped down with the guages on to see that the system has no leaks.

Can you say I'm on the right path and have forgotten nothing that you would do if you were doing this job?

Thank you

Richard

I'm not using the big freon tank as this calls for 134a~(you know that) I have those little 12oz cans and a tap.

Please let me know if you think I'm forgetting something.  Thanks

The A/C wasn't cooling enough~I found the condenser fan unplugged~plugged the fan in it worked. Cool air coming out of the vent at 40degrees.

I put the gauges back on The out side temperature was 105+   Pressure on the low side was 70lbs~High side 55lbs

I thought the it might be low charge before I put the gauges on~would you think it might be overcharged?

What's you first thought?
