Are these Track/Kicks just more prone to fan belt squeal than most cars or do i just not know how to properly tension one?  Recently my fan belt would squeal upon start up for a few seconds and then stop.  It progressed to every time I would start moving from a stop so last week I replaced it.  Noise gone.  Or so I thought.  A couple of days ago it has come back with a vengeance and squeals upon start up and anytime I am accelerating in the first two gears.  Now this has all coincided with the extremely cold temps we're having (5-20 degrees).  I do keep the Zuk in a garage at night that's about 50 degrees and it still squeals a bit on start up. 

I read to tension the belt so it doesn't want to twist more than 90 degrees.  I did that the best I know how at least.  I am afraid to tighten it too much for fear of ruining the alternator bearings.  I recall doing that a few years back.  So is a squealing belt a sign its too tight or too loose?  Are these Kicks just doomed to squeal?

Tension, or lack thereof is not the only cause of a squeal with multi-rib belts - check the pulley alignment - on one of my Suzukis I was going through a new belt every three or four months before I found the real cause - one of the pivot bolts under the alternator was missing, allowing the alternator to "tilt", allowing the belt to rub and squeal.

If align correctly, & tensioned correctly, I use a very small amount of silicon grease.

You can try a bar of soap to lubricate the belt...
