2" calmini better than 3"

ive heard that with a basically stock tracker no bumpers winch rollcage things like that(2dr), that the 2" calmini suspension will probably outflex and have more articulation than the 3 incher anyone heard this or have a comment that says otherwise? just a curious cat that would like to ramp a higher score (on the homemade cinder block ramp ;))than my buddy with the 3" lift.

I would slightly disagree on the out flex.

I've personally seen a comparison between the Calmini 2 inch on a stock 2dr and another buddy had his stock 2dr with the Calmini 3 incher and the 3 incher always seemed to flex more (especially in the rear), he ramped higher because of this and can run larger tires and thusly seemed to perform better offroad.    (more clearence)

Except when he kept blowing out CVs and breaking the passenger side tabs off of housings.

(we purchased the 2 incher and modified it.)

well i guess you are probably right, but i have 2.5 inch or so  ::)coil spacers on my tracker now and im not that far from his high score, also say i get the two inch kit add some coil spacers and make it a three inch lift, would i still benifit from the 2" kits ability to flex , but gain that ground clearance that is so important? hmmm....

I dont think that you will out flex the 3" Kit without modifying the 2" Kit. The 2" Kit does ride better on road but the 3" Kit performs better off-road.

The travel on the front strut limits the articukation of the front suspension. The 2" kit flips the top mount, that gives around 3/4" extra travel. The 3" lift comes with a 2" spacer that gives (no surprise here) an extra 2" of travel. So the 3" has more potential to flex, whether there is enough weight on the front end or leverage from the wheels is another matter, also running coil spacers isn't going to do much for your ability to flex anyway.

I know a few people that are running the 3 inch kit without bumpers ect. It sits more like a 4 inch kit cause there is no weight on it. It was designed to have all the gear. Problem is it rides stiff cause everything is topped out. On the rti they preformed about the same cause without the weight the 3 inch does not compress all the way. If you do not plan on running all the gear I highly recomend you go with the 2 inch kit. If you plan on buying bumpers in the future go with the 3

ok, curious.  where does one acquire 2.5 inch coil spacers?  :)
that's what i need...if you made them please, do tell how and is there any negitave effefts to this (noticeable excessive tire wear, blown CV's, etc.)

had a guy i know sell me them after he made them on a lathe, out of some hard plastic stuff. i cant remember just how big they are played around with different sizes for awhile till i got a lift i liked, CAMBER is the main prob. it is pretty bad ties look like this  \  /  form the front, i know you can do a mod to the strut bolt holes just havent gotton to do it. i blew up my aluminum housing in the front, but i think that is just because its a piece of.....well other than the struts being too short and the rears probably need to be lengthend, i do just fine!! ;)
