I think that just doing the coil spacers will be much easier, but actually the 2" RRO bodylift will not be as difficult as mentioned above.  I think that you only get those problems with the Calmini 3" bodylift.

I don't have an auto tranny, but I didn't have to do anything to the steering shaft or the transfer case to get the lift to fit.  The only thing that I did was flip the transfer case boot up side down.  Maybe save a few more bucks and do both the coil spacers and the bodylift.

You can get away without extending the t-case shifter but it's just easier to use with the extension.  Even with a 2" lift while you don't absolutely have to extend the steering shaft it's probably not a bad idea, It's not meant to be pulled tight all the time which is what you're doing if you do a body lift without extending it slightly.

Dunno maybe it's just an experience level thing, but I really didn't find the body lift to be that big of a deal all in all.

Just did a  RRO 2"  body lift on a 2 dr 1997 Tracker.  Worked fine without extending the transfer case lever or an change to shifter.  It took about 2 hours to do, longer on the driver side with the learning and a little more to disconnect.  Be careful to make sure you have all the  misc stuff losse when you lift the body so nothing hangs up.  Overall not a big deal and the lift along with RRO spring spacers give enough clearance to run 30" tires.

I used A homade 3/4" aluminum spacer front & rear and got about 2" of lift and could probably run 29x8.5 tires no prob.
