Gear Troubles
« on: November 24, 2005, 08:57:36 AM »
I recently installed a set of 31" tsl swamper radials on my 95 kick, auto, with some engine mods. While it's still drivable, I want to change the r+p's to lower the stress in the whole drivetrain, and give it a bit more pickup. Problem is I can't find the freakin gears anywhere. Calmini, no go. Ebay, ? so far not. Does anyone know where a set of lower ratio ring and pinions, f+r, can be had for this unit? Or any alternitives. I love these tires and I do'n want to have to go back to the 235 at's. I also don't want to destroy my drivetrain thru xtra stress. Ther has got to be a set out there to be had. Any Help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks much.

is yours a 3 spd or 4 spd auto? If its a 3 spd you should have 4.62:1 diff gears and can swap in 5.13 gears from a 5 spd sidekick.
1991 4 door kick, 2" coil spacers, 30" Coopers, winch, locker, rust, dents, etc.

??? Thanks Chet, It's a 3 speed auto, with solinoid activated torque converter lockup. Is there anyway to identify the ratio via vin#, or any other means? If it does have the 4.62 gears it would just be a matter of getting a set of thirds from a salvage yard. that would make things a bunch easier. Thanks for your help, much appreaciated!
