Yep, it's a ski resort town in western NC, near Banner Elk, NC probably about 40 miles from the Tri-Cities. I've been to the trailhead before but the Mrs. chickened-out so this will be my first ride up there. I'll let you know how good it is.

900 Miles for me Shorter than 1500 to Moab

We had a great time at Windrock Spent the morning on moderate trails just sight seeing with an ATV and a Jeep TJ. Hoooked up with the rest of the Club that afternoon and ran Hard raited Trail 21 and had a blast. I did have to winch on a series of off-camber rock ledges about 1/2 way up a HUGE hill climb But when my brakes hit the floor when I had to stop and pick another line, I decided to pull the cable.

Hey Zig, Beech Mountain was great! Some deep mud holes and an awesome rock garden that I definitely took the bypass on. There are larger, more technical trails out there but this place has a little bit of everything. Here's a couple pics but none of the rock garden, sorry.
