If you look at the late style (99up) trans the bell housing is deeper, thinner and the starter is in a different position, whole different design.
The flywheel I had made was a copy of the 1.6...except the center which would bolt to the 2.0L crank but spaced to match the 1.6 position.....works great now (with a 1.6/16v clutch).

So for reference... the 2.0L flywheel that came on my engine (maybe others are different but hollander says they are the same) is slightly larger dia, thicker and spaced back farther from the block.

Is the 1.8 different?

Cool, this is all good stuff to know! As for the 1.8 question, I guess they are different because I've mixed and matched those parts with the 1.6 stuff...

Thanks for the informative discussion, Eric

Well
If the 1.8 stuff mixes with the 1.6 stuff then I wonder if the 1.8 flywheel fits the 2.0? It would sure make this swap alot easier....same with motor mounts and stuff. I can only go on what I have seen here and my companies Hollander interchange. I can't lay my hooks on the 1.8 stuff in this area.
Any one have some of this stuff kicking around that would be willing to measure it up?
