rear defrost button
« on: November 20, 2005, 07:29:53 PM »
Here is my problem when i bought the kick the button would work if i hit it just right. And the defrost in back would work. But then one day it stopped working. Now here is the question. Every sidekick i have seen or been in it seems the button does not work. I went to the dealer and they want 60 bucks for a new one. Is there a cheap fix or something someone has found to work since this seems to be a pretty common problem in this kicks?

mine works!  ;) You could replace it with a normal toggle switch.
1991 4 door kick, 2" coil spacers, 30" Coopers, winch, locker, rust, dents, etc.

Mine looks like it doesn't work, but if I press it, the lights dim and the revs drop, so something's happening.   There's no way I would pay $60 to fix it though, especially when a cheaper, illuminated, easier to find toggle switch would do the trick....

Must be a switch design fault if you know others with problems....another reason to save $60.

cheers!

The funny thing is, that in a 2-door soft-top, the wires and connector are still in the harness for the rear defroster.  I bought the switch off e-bay, and installed it in the dash (it looks great), and I use it to power my rock-lights.

Why did the rear defrost on my soft top melt the back window?  ;D
