I have a 1996 Geo Tracker with manual hand crank windows on it. They appear to be worn out, ie when you crank them up they get stiff and the windows tilt to the front as they go up, eventually binding up so bad you cant crank them up any more without grabbing them with your other hand and tilting them back to the proper position as you crank them up. Any suggestions on how to cure this problem?

ps. It must be a good sign that I am through the serious mechanical problems when I am down to the dome light and window cranks

The window regulators are cables and
sheaths with pullies at the 3 corners of
the triangle arrangement.

I would take the regulators out and spray
WD40 to get them working again, and then
grease them with a spray white lithium grease.

Do Not Use  Cable lube, too sticky and drags
badly, you can also use Silicone spray too, but
I don't think that will last more than a few months.

Also use Silicone spray lube on the rubber tracks
to help reduce drag as the window slides up and down.

Before taking anything apart, armor-all the window tracks and get them good and clean... that's worked for me perfectly...

I just cleaned and lubed the channels front and back, it helped quite a bit, but not completely. I guess next weekend I can take the doors apart and lube the cables etc... while I am installing some speakers at the same time. Have even considered picking up a power window conversion kit for it too....

The channels are felt. they don't like being lubed very much. Makes matters worse usually. They just need a really good cleaning to work the best and in my experience Armorall works wonders...
