I'm back baby! Samurai #7!
« on: January 05, 2006, 07:48:36 AM »
Well after selling off all the Sami's, making the switch to jeep (XJ) and finding I don't like driving whales that moan and groan off-road I'm back! Last weekend me and another former sami owner turned Jeep, then scout, then toyota, now back to Sami picked up a pair of these for $750!

Got Zuk 2x2!

Anyways mine's ratted out pretty bad, missing a ton of parts but it's perfect in every way. Body is actually is Excellent shape! Not too much rust and what is there is surface only!

Last night in the garage I was having a beer checking it out and smelling the years of mold in it. And kept thinking... It's been over 10 years since I first bought the first one... So here's a little reminising for those old time Suzuki gurus like myself...

Remember when...

Gary and his wife were the only ones running Petroworks and their catalog was Black and white printed off a computer and stapled together.

Wakefield still ran the red zuk and was "thinking" of starting a company.

Calmini and Petroworks were the only two reputable companys selling parts for sami's.

Mario at Victory engineering was ripping people off then moved to neverland, I think we totaled almost $19k from the mailing list that went missing.

Alex B's list began as the renegage Suzuki mailing list. Some good fights on there. Over 400 e-mails per day.

31's were considered extreme and having a locker and SPOA was the ultimate combo.

Ah well... Just looking back... Now time to look forward. I gotta get a pic of this thing on the web for a before shot!

Towing the Sami with an XL-7... How fitting! Just gotta paint the sami the same color!

Welcome back, even though I am new here. I wish I had got into these Zuks 10 years ago. I thought about it. I even bought a Calmini catalog just to see what i could get for one since I can't leave anything stock. I was really into 4x4 vans and developing lift kits for them back then so I never scored a Zuk. Now I think of all the fun I missed out on.  :'(  Oh well the vans were fun too even if they did drink twice the fuel.

I still have my '95 Calmini catalog. Check out the big winch on this Sami.  ;D

I remember walking out to the parking lot at work in 1986 and seeing my first ever Sam.  I had just bought a 50 Willy pickup or I would have gone straight to the dealer and  ;Dbought one. Many broken Willy parts and ten years later I did buy one, bone stock and like you said Gary and Steve was all there was for costume parts. Ten years later and I still love Zuks. But then there is obviously something wrong with ALL of us...right ? Nobody understands us...We're all probably ZUKIN NUTS...    ;D
