ok guys heres a couple question im starting new project with a 87 sammy and im wondering about a 1.6 8 v swap have all the parts other than finding good running motor in the whole united states but is this swap worth the money? how much more power do you really get off it.And what do they do to the wiring harness to make it work i have one just lying around with good ecm( willing to trade for a good running 1.3 or a 1.6 8 valve ) but any info would help thanks

Rougly 20hp increase 20ftlbs torque (stock VS stock). Is it worth it? Everyone I've seen runs the pants of any 1.3L.

My old sami had a BUILT 1.3L, I mean were talking over 100hp. and I got smoked by a bone stock 1.6L. Gears and tires may have been the issue but larger is allways better.

 My 1.3 was hurting a little but still running when I did the swap, after the 31's I could not use the 5th gear, the swap alone gave me back 5th gear then changing the diff gears gave me even more.
 The harness I did myself it took about 5-6 hours (1hr here and there in the evenings) my ECM wiring is completely sepatate from all other original wiring.

The swap is not hard and well worth it for something thats almost a complete bolt in.

Thanks agin when you say you done your own wiring harness! what is acually done to them? do you just change the sensor conections? this one i have is got the whole ball a wax on it from light to fuse block so do i swap whole harness or do you hack it up and take out all you dont need??? My sammy i play with now has 33" boggers but i have a 4 to 1 transfer in it and it is fun to run other than boggers are hard on any thing you run them on this one im building is going to be kind of a on and off road user.  im going to start taking pics of it before i tear the tub off and clean up the frame and do the soa lift on it also thinking of yjs but kinda wanna stay under tight buget so it might just ket HEEP springs in the pack of SAMMY main leafs heres a pic of mine now i want to make a clean one tho.

Well for starters. Do you have a lift yet? 3" or more? If not you'll need to swap the oil pan with the 1.3 -> the 1.6L Which also requires a modified oil pump line (Hawk Suzuki Parts). Second you'll need the engine to tranny adapter (Pick a fav aftermarket supplier they all have'em now). Once that is done, unbolt the intake and exhaust manifolds. Get yourself an electric fuel pump (5psi Max) while your at it. Unbolt the stock 1.3L and remove. Install the bellhousing adapter you picked up. Install the electric pump back near the tank but after the fuel filter. Install the 1.6L motor. Using new exhaust and intake gaskets install the manifolds. Double check the timing with the disty. Make sure the pump is wired up for ignition only. And crank it. Should start in 30 seconds. That's about the jist of it. More information is supplied with the bellhousing kits which any reputable manufacture can fax or e-mail to ya.

Basically the difference in the Sami, Trackick engines are Starter, bellhousing mount, and wether it's FI or Not. Other than that there pretty much the same. Even use the same pistons if I remember.

Thanks for the post, but I was referring to the wiring harness conversion. I've already got a fuel pump (e2000 for a 1988 ford f150, $80 at advance auto parts), and the adapter kit should ship soon (grrrrr ordered on Dec the 9th), and know the details on the rest of the swap. 5" spring over axle so I don't think I have to worry about the oil pan. 

Tracker engine is already sitting in its backseat, right next to my new samurai transmission and clutch. Got a headman header, new exhaust gasket... didn't get an intake one though.

There $4 from Advance auto parts.

No experience with the wiring harness so I'll got back to lurk mode on this.
