Calmini Hi Steer with 2 3/4" BS wheels?
« on: January 05, 2006, 05:28:02 PM »
Howdy:
Has anyone here ran the newer Calmini Samurai Hi Steer with 2 3/4" BS wheels? Calmini says it needs 2 1/2" BS, but one of the big vendors that sells Calmini products says they have customers that have run it with stock wheels & 1" spacers which would be 2 3/4" BS by my figgerin'. I have 2 3/4" backspaced Rock Crawlers but would like to run the Calmini set-up if I could. I just  don't wanna take a chance splittin' hairs if I don't have to! Thanks in advance.

Hi zukisuzi,

I build my own hi -steer kits here in NZ and you do have to run a reasonable amount of back spacing for the bolt on arms to clear the tyre on the drag link side.

Give it a try and if things are close then fab up a 10mm spacer that bolts up between the drag link arm ( and only this arm ) and the caliper mount - BUT DO NOT FORGET TO GET LONGER BOLTS IF YOU DO THIS or you will be in trouble if they pull out :(

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
