how much abuse can the 22 spline front end take?
« on: February 09, 2006, 04:15:44 PM »
I was wondering how much abuse the 22 spline front axle can take. I was planning on putting 235/75r15 tires on it and I want to know if this will give the front axle and CVs a short fuse.
Runnin' it stock with 225/75R15s and an unmodified 8valve TBI motor (I need a doug thoroley header and a cam) (more power) (1.6 liters of madness) (vroom + sewing machine sounds)

They should be good for a pretty long time.  I ran 235's on my old one for a long time without any cv issues.

Just don't break them, and you won't have to replace them....

i never had any problems with the 22 spline. i upgraded to 26 spline because the opertunity was there, all the right parts just seemed to fall into my hands.

Thanks for the information. It is good to know that the 22 spine isnt a problematic axle, although I will still keep an eye out for a 26 spline in the junk yards (I could have had one, as I had found a 16 valve sidekick in the pick n pull, but at the time I didn't know that there was a difference, and the front axle was gone the second time I went over there).
