i am running stock 5 speed gear box, stock transfer gears, and stock 5.12:1 diff gears. the simex ETs next tot he 33" MT/Rs i had, had about a half inch difference in height overall. so they are about 32.5"-33".

i am desperately saving for some transfer gears, although i dont need them for the kind of wheeling i do.

i can sit on the hwy at 100km/h pretty comfortably, but normally, i sit on 90km/h to save fuel. i have been to about 140-150km/h on the hwy, down a slight hill and some tail wind, but extremely scary in my vit. (although, i don't have the standard carby on my motor)

as for open BL blocks, they are considered not safe here in aus, as a severe accident can see the bolts sheer, or tear out of the open block (RHS, or box tube), or collapse, and result in a suzuki escape pod being launched off a suzuki chassis. we have some pretty tough and strict engineering laws over here. and i was once told that a body should be held onto the chassis with a single bolt only at each mounting point, not 2 seperate bolts as the BOX BL has. so a calmini one shouldn't pass engineering here in aus.

That's pretty much it plus I think if you're going to do a job do it right especially when it's you and your passengers lives that may be at stake. I have rolled vehicles in the past and it may happen again and there can be a lot of force involved and I like to know that my safety is not at risk because I took a cheap shortcut.

all this is great! even the offtopic because that is a cool custom top. Another concern i had was the engine trying to pull these tires. its the 8v version, the truck will be seeing a lot of snow,sand,mudetc..., so are gears the best way to go?  i will be adding a header and new pipes plus new wires/plugs and also hiflow air filter.  Or is it better to swap the 16v engine?
thanks again!

i've been reading a lot of posts, and i really like the idea of doing a budget lift with longer springs etc...
Unfortunately i am not really sure on exactly what the "etc" parts are., so i guess im wondering what i would need for budget lift to be able to run 33's
thanks to anyone who knows!

probably need to do a fair bit of cutting of the guards that the etc bits.

but a 3" BL, and a 3" suspension with a little guard cutting and you can run 33"s.
