I was daydreaming about two GV or XL7   Fronts, with extended tube arms/axles  and 4 wheel steer.

4 wheel indepenant suspension  and 4 wheel steering... 


you would have to keep it light.. maybe slap it under a Sammy frame and body?  would make a killer trail buggy... maybe dune runner?   the dunes love IRS.. 

would the new rear spit pinions? or are the iron pigs strong enough for them to be running in reverse all the time. 


Just day dreaming.. but it really doesn't seem too hard to fab up..

On a sammie you could try and get two toyota fronts to work, the offset would be close enough I would think you would just have to make sure everything turns the correct way, I think it would work ok with some longfields in it.

I would use the tacoma front suspension(twin a-arms with a coil over shock) and hang a custom ultra short ford 9" center section and some custom cv axles.

Would make a cool dune runner! 

LOOk up a show called full metal challenge,

was a discovery channel show a few years back, one of the teams took 2 range rovers and fabbed them together back to back, it was a v-16 8x8 with front and rear steering, a real monster. Called the Octo-Push.

if you have ever driven the chevy trucks with 4 wheel steering you would think it is a great idea! you can park a full size truck very easily in a spot just big enough for a trackick!

I drove a Honda Prelude with 4ws.. it was awesome..

I can just imagine driving this buggy through some tight trails.. it would really rock. 

The goal would be to keep it as light and small as possible. maybe under a gutted X-90 body?   

I am telling you, this would work, and it would work well.  Trails would be it's forte...  If you didn't want IRS, you could always use a sammy front axle in the rear... but I really think IRS IFS and 4WS would be awesome..

There was a crawler at (I think) the 2003 'Melt with 4-wheel steering.  Called the Rocklobster, it also sported duallys on all four corners.  I believe that it had hydraulic steering at both ends.

I have also seen someone who built a rod linkage that ran under the truck and connected the two steering systems.

I saw pics of the lobster, I didn't realize it had 4ws.. cool..

I think hydraulic steering would be the way to go...  non synched.. just manual two way valve on a toggle lever. 

This is a Blitz bodied Samurai with two front axles and hydraulic steering. The rear of the frame is too wide to allow the rear wheels to turn. On this car the rear frame rails have been cut off and new ones welded further in. I would guess that that would be a problem on a track/Kick too unless you used wider axles.

I am sure there are all sorts of things you would have to battle.. but obviously.. it's posible...
