CJ'S IN REAR. WHAT SHOCK IS BEST
« on: February 18, 2005, 03:27:51 AM »
Hey I just put cj's in rear of my sammy and I have DT3333 shocks and with sammy sitting on jack stands I cant get them on, I dont want to limit my travel so what would be the next step up? Can I go with DT 9000's. I also have breeze 4 to 8 inch shackles on rear and I am looking for the most articulation without limiting my up travel. I do not drive this on the street, do I have to run shocks? what are the goods and bads abouts running no shocks at all on rear? any help would be appreciated.

thanks
pat

Why won't they work?? Too long?? I angled mine in drastically at the top(makes for better flex too). Mine are 31 inches long! They almost touch in the middle at the top.

How's the ride with ~80% 'shock power?'
Do you notice more body roll then over stock.
(we are thinking about inboarding our rear shocks)

they are too short and I allready moved my shocks in, I have 6 inch spoa with cj's. when sammy is sitting on ground they fit but not at full droop.

Nah....you don't have to run rear shocks...if you want to die.  ::)

Not running rear shocks is a bad idea. I've seen bad rolls off of hard obstacles and a bad roll on a logging road squarely due to the drivers thinking they can get away without rear shocks.

The truck won't handle or react properly on the street either, and your rear end will bounce all over the place, and and and....and axle wrap will be horrible (assuming you don't have a anti-wrap solution already).

It's not rocket science to go down to the local parts store and look through their shock cateloges to find something that will fit properly.

shocks help asbord the energy your suspension creates. There like brakes for you supension. With out them your sping will want to keep bouncing they assit you leaf spring in maintaing ride height. WIth out them your rear suspension will wear out really fast. Just call 4 wheel parts and tell them the size you need. Best way to measure is do a static measure put it on the ground find out how long the shock needs to be sitting level. Then find out how long it needs to be full drop. Give that info to them at where ever you buy shocks and they can determine how long of shocks you need.
