The BFG All Terrains are a LT (light truck) tire.  This probably makes it a lot bigger.

The XL& also has more room back there I think?

Marc

Yes the xl-7 does have room but this was when I had a GV.

Hi all,  since I don't play in the mud I went to a snow/ice combo.  I just put on the Dunlop Grandtrek sj6 215/70's on my 05 xl7.  They added overall about 1 inch to the diameter, and we feel the CG has not been noticably comprimized.  It looks more truck like and I also feel that any larger may look awkward in the wheel well.  I am convinced that a 235/70 will rub, a 225/70 would be iffy, depending on the tire.  I too feel that this size is the best choise.  From experience, I will give the blizzak a slight edge on ice, but at $130 canadian vs. $198, the dunlop is a better buy.   cheers.. ;D

I don't know the exact difference between the XL7 and GV wheel wells but we just put High-Tec retreading's 225/75R16 muds on our stock height GV.  They're very tall sitting right about 28.5", maybe a little more, on the vehicle at 25psi and this is really the biggest you could run without ripping stuff off as you drove down the road.  They rub the front a bit on turns and the rear doesn't even have a finger width of space but so far no rubbing.  That said our GV is pretty empty in the rear so if you jammed a couple hundred pounds in there it would likely start rubbing.

A lift is coming in a few weeks. ;D

Is that when flexing, or just sitting/driving normally?

I am running this size with NO lift on my GV.  I cut some plastic to make it fit.  You should be fine.
