Vitara leaking water into cabin. Need Fix.
« on: June 20, 2006, 04:18:33 AM »
My Vitara is leaking water at the front drivers side onto the floor behind the dash.

Does not look like it is leaking from top of the windscreen.
Not a heater hose it's fresh water and only after it has rained or when I wash the car.
And not from the AC, have already found out the fix on AC leaking and unblocking it.

Will it just be the window needing to be resealed?
Or somewhere else?
Can I get to where/check if it is leaking somewhere else?

;D There used to be a drink driving ad here that went "Friends don't let friends drink and drive" so I changed it to what you see stirs the **** of out my mate who owns a Yamaha.

I even have a sticker on the back of my helmet that says the same. So he when and got one that says "friends don't let friends ride a Suzuki"
It's all in fun.
I would probley own a Yamaha if I was desperate, dying or something along that line. :P ;D

grab a water hose, have someone spray a stream, and crawl in and try to follow it up ...

I suspect it's the windshield, but there is a gasket between the door and mirror too, as well as the weather strip between the door and body ...

sometimes the windshield seal lets go, I would go ahead and get a new windshield and seal installed to keep the windshield frame from rotting out any more than it already likely is. depending on insurance regulations in your area, you could possibly "accidentally" drop a rather large wrench on it and call some 800 number for a free repair  ::)

mine had the same problem, but it was happening to both the driver and passenger sides. The problem was that the welds around the firewall had started to rust out.

I am getting a new screen today, my Vit is running the 3" calmini lift and gets allot of twisting off road so hopefully that is the fix.  :)

The company who replaced the current screen just before I brought it from the original owner has a lifetime guarantee, (I have owned the car for 2+ years) but the catch is only to the person who brought the screen not to the car. ITODITS.  >:(

Asked them how much to reseal $170. I can get a new screen for $160 fitted.  ::)

And I don't think I have glass coverage on my policy.

Pretty sure mine are  fine but will have a close look at the firewall.

Had a closer look at the screen and it still has a seal, used an air gun and soapy water to test it.
Took off the plastic cowl at the bottom of the screen and poured water below the screen.
And it still comes in; only two options it is running down the main wiring harness because I poked the UHF, Spotlight, Locker, cables thought the boot.
Or water is coming thought a seam in the inner guard.
