pulling front 3rd member on ifs models
« on: July 01, 2006, 10:28:13 PM »
I have a 2000 GV but the diff should be quite similar to kicks and X 90's for the front. how do I get the third out without messing anything up? my dad and I messed up the snap ring in the passenger side of it and messed up the seal and potentially a dinger on the CV when we put the lift on. now I took the passenger side back apart to try and fix it. the snap ring is lost in the diff and a friend of mine said it had to come out so the diff is removed and I'm not sure now to get the longer axle shaft out without messing it up (probably prying like the CV on the other side?) and need a good method on how to break apart the glue type stuff that seals the 3rd to the housing

any input is appreciated, thanks allot

I'm not having a good evening

also wondering if I could run a calmnini anvil with my 1.5 coil spacers on my GV. lifted it about 2 inches up front. I might need a new CV anyway and it would be damn nice to have both sides flanged

it's in there quite snug . you have to use like a dead blow hammer, or if you don't have that  use a hammer with a block of wood and give it a good whack. might take a few ,, but it will let go... good luck... dwayne

Yeah, you need a slide hammer for that one.

got the shaft out with a dead blow hammer and a pry  bar. the third then came right out. hope everything will be alright. all I need is an axle mount bolt that I stripped when I removed it. (the big top drivers side one) I don't think I should drive it till I get that part. hope the dealership will have one in stock.

I really wish I would have gone with a calmini kit and had all the drop brackets and control arms as well as .5 to 1 inch more of lift.

thanks for the help
