positive camber after calmini 3" lift
« on: September 04, 2006, 03:53:06 AM »
seems i have alot of positive camber after having the 3" sus lift installed.  kinda weird, i thought only the rocky road type lifts affected the camber.  wheres the cheapest place to get camber bolts?

You bought into Calminis advertising then? Camber is nearly always a problem with IFS irrespective of lift manufacturer. The nose weight of the vehicle affects ride height and that causes camber changes. You may find that it will correct itself once the front end has settled down, otherwise a search here will find several different vendors named.

what year is your truck? my grandpa put a lift (well i put it on lol) on his 02 4door and we had to finally get calmini to admit that their front spirngs were made to have the extra weight of a bumper and/or winch on the front

so as it say stock the springs were not carrying enough weight  ::)

Should have taken a pics after my lift install, way out.
Just adjust it yourself by eye then take it to a wheel alignment shop.

well its a 95 tracker.   i bought the lift kit used from explosivo and it seems to be broken in already.  the front is not much higher than the back. why does calmini say it wont affevt camber when is obvously does.

so where is the cheapest place to get camber bolts?

Most autoparts stores sell them.  I know NAPA and Advanced Auto do.  Make sure you're getting the Ingals made stuff.

Slotting the holes works well too.

....or just jump it a couple times till your strut towers bow in a little.
j/k - slotting the holes is good and cheap, and I think stronger than cam bolts.

I got mine on EBay, $20-25 for the pair, search for part# 81250

the bolts make it easy to very precisely dial in the camber, but if you're out more than a couple degrees then you still might need to oval out the strut holes

on the newer kits calmini says to cut 1/4th of a coil off the bottom till the camber sits right  ::)

well i went wheeling, caught a little air here and there and one side has settled and is almost correct. the black rubber thingy above the spring is not all the way in on the other side. maybe it will settle over time.
