Petcock missing... 1980 GS750L
« on: October 06, 2006, 08:18:54 PM »
Hello,

I just bought a 1980 GS750L, so I am new to the forums. The bike runs fine, but I'm pretty sure that it is not good for this bike to have the petcock left in the same position all of the time. As well, it would be nice to have the reserve function  ;)

Unfortunately, the petcock itself is missing. As you can see in the picture, I can still turn the petcock using anything that can manipulate the slot (screwdriver). What would be the best way for me to find out which position is the PRI and which is the fuel? It is not indicated on the tank, but does this one automatically have a RES and OFF position as well? As well, a tiny bit of fuel leaks out of the hole.

This is a bike I can learn on, so I am not going for "style"... I will get a better one in a year. I was wondering what others thought of my er... petcock dilemma.

Thanks for any help!
B.

Oops!

Unfortunately for you, all the Suzukis that we talk about here are 4x4 SUVs (for lack of a better term). While many of us enjoy the 2-wheeled cousins (which some rightly believe that Suzuki bike are at a totally higher level of engineering than their 4-wheeled cousins), Suzuki bikes are not a topic of discussion here.

Since I gave up motorcycles a number of years ago, I really can't think of a place to go on this newfangled Internet for a Suzuki Bike forum.

Anyone here got a good URL for our wayward breathern???

Cordially,
Ack
