Well, I WAS close to finalizing a deal on a new '06 GV until I started doing some research on a slight vibration I felt while test driving a Luxury model for a short distance on the highway.
I made it a stipulation that the vibe is resolved before I take delivery, however, after some reasearch I've found other owners complaining about this vibration and Suzuki doesn't apparently know what is causing it.  Some of the current owners have gone throught the obvious stuff like wheel balancing, alignment and one even had a front driveshaft replaced w/ no change.  IMHO it felt like it was the motor rather than the driveline.

Anyone have anything to add to this?   I'd really like to know what Suzuki's position on this is.  I don't need to buy a new vehicle only to have it in the dealer's shop constantly trying to fix something that may not be repairable.

If you run the engine speed up when at rest, does it vibrate? 

we have a 06 with 9000 miles and no vibrations must be in certain vehicales

Didn't take delivery, so I don't know or care at this point. An engine in this day and age should run smooth at all RPMs, especially when it is brand new.  I've read numerous complaints about this on various other forums.  I'm not buying a brand new vehicle only to have it sit in the shop while they scratch their heads wondering what to do about it.

This is what the sales manager's response was regarding my test drive and follow up email keep in mind he drives one as a demo and the one I drove was a different vehicle:

"I have also noticed a slight vibration in mine, maybe you can
come out & drive another one to compare."

"Ron, I did a little nosing around about the vibration you felt. It seems
most agree it is a result of the style of couplings Suzuki uses for the
A.W.D. system."

Well, not having a service manual for this thing,  I can't imagine what the drivetrain even looks like enough to know whether he's talking about u-joints, cv joints or some type of viscous coupling.  All I know is it's a real shame Suzuki puts vehicles out that test drive in this fashion.  I really like the looks and styling of this GV and couple that with the owner loyalty rebate AND the seemingly great price for my trade, I am extremely disappointed I have to walk away from this deal.

Something smells very fishy w/ this whole vibration issue to me.

inventory and any 06 model year Grand Vitara that comes into your dealership for
any reason. If the rear Dynamic Damper (27475-66J01) is not installed perform
this correction. If it is a customer vehicle, please be sure to notify the owner before
performing this correction.

Thanks a bunch harder mods! Exactly the info I was hoping was floating around somewhere.  I'm going to take this info over to the dealer to see if this has been performed on the one I drove.  I'd really like to get my butt into this GV.
