Price for Tracker
« on: December 03, 2006, 10:58:37 PM »
Hey all,

Well, I might have to sell my Tracker :'( and I would like to hear from you on what you think a good selling price might be.  Here are the stats:

1990 Tracker
5-speed Trans.
4.24 Trans gears
5.62 ring & pinion
lockrites in front and rear
onboard air
new 31 BFG muds (only about 500 to 1000 miles on them)
About 115,000 miles
Just put on new timing belt.

The body is in rough shape, it has been used offroad and beat up on some rocks.
The interior is also in rough shape, but it is great for offroad.
I'll have to take some good pictures of it but it runs great, it always passes smog, but I'll be the first to admit that the body is rough.  Anyway, I was hoping maybe $2500 just because of the 4x4 options (lockers, t-case gears with only 500 miles, 5.62 r&p) alone.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Aaron

25 is high for it all put together.  I mean, the sum of the parts is definitely more than that.. much more... but.. it is so hard to get your money back out.

I think you could make that or more by parting it.

wheels tires

Hard top

3rd's with gears/lockers

xfer case with reduction

Engine/trans

axles and housings

etc.....

Personally,  I wouldn't have a problem handing you 22 to 25 for it, if I were in the market... but I know what that stuff costs..

Maybe someone here that is looking will snap it up.

In other words, although it is worth it, I think it might be hard to get that money  back out without parting it. I wish you luck, cause the tires/wheels  xfer/gears, and 3rd's with gears are worth over 2g by themselves, if someone wants to put those things on thier rig.. not counting the hardtop and a running kick to boot.

Yeah, I really don't want to part it out because of the attachment.  I can't really see it being an empty shell, but then again, if that is what it comes down to.

I would LOVE to have it, and would pay that... so maybe another Zuk fan will see it and realize what you have into it.

How come you are selling it?

How come you are selling it?

I am thinking of selling it because I am at a crossroads:  I need more comfort for my wife and I'm thinking it would be better to sell this and get something that would be slightly more comfortable.  Here is a story!

The story begins like this.  This rig has been in the family since it was bought at the dealer.  It use to be absolutely awsome, with great interior, carpet, a/c,  and very capable with lockers and 5.62 R&P.  The rig that was a pleasure to ride in.  Whenever a dent was created by hitting a rock, the dent was then fixed.  Then it moved on to the next family member.  He decided to rip everything out, break the hell out of it, let it sit for several years while it filled up with mud and water on the inside.  What makes it worse is that the Tracker never broke down or anything, he just drove and parked.  I serious when I say that the night I had to pick it up, I changed the oil before I moved it and he said it hadn't been changed in like 5 years!

I have always enjoyed the Tracker and when I was given the opportunity to trade my Toyota truck for it 2 years ago (after I sold my 10 year project 1971 Bronco), I took it.  I added the t-case gears, fixed a whole bunch of stuff and paid out of my nose to get it re-regestered, I now have a great little off-road machine.

But now is decision time.  I have spend a lot of time and money getting it road worthy again and now I am slowly working on rebuilding the interior and fixing the a/c in it.  So do I continue to put money into this rig or sell it and buy another?  I have also thought of finding a good donor vehicle to just swap all the goodies over into.  I don't know, I am just looking at all of my options.  If it was when I was younger, the current state of the Tracker would be fine.  It is so cool to go offroading in, but getting to the trail is not as fun..like I said eariler, it is very crude.
But the more I type, the more I'm thinking of just keeping it and slowly add stuff to it.  Anyway, have a good day folks!
