Gv lift running 235/85 x 16's
« on: December 22, 2006, 09:11:30 PM »
Hi team,

Well I finally got around to fitting my Calmini lift kit. Got just under 4" of lift so decided to fit my 235/85 x 16's.

Word of warning - to fit this size rubber you need to cut a lot of internal plastic but the vehicle still retains its stock look - mission complete  ;D

No pic's - I am sure you guys have seen enough of these already  :P. Let me know if you want a pic though  ;)

Ok then, here are some pics. The biggest problem with these vehicles is that they have WAY TOO MUCH plastic on the inner guards  ::). So just trim it off and run some decent rubber  ;D.

Enjoy  :)

More pics.

Yes the Calmini kit is only a 2.5" lift BUT as with all of their kits you get a bit more  ;)

Thanks guys. Merry Xmas to you all as well  :D

I was hoping to get a good lift but retain the stock looks - I am very happy with the results.

I know it is not everyones cup of tea to go cutting things up to fit some rubber but I see like this: You can not make an omelete without breaking some eggs LOL. I intend to fabricate some new inner skins once I am sure I have sufficient clearance.

The plan was to turn my GV into an adventure rig for myself and my family - let the good times err roll  ;D

Beerman - you ( blacknight etc, the experienced guys ) gave me a lot of inspiration to go ahead with this build  ;D. Thanks team  >:D

those pizza cutter sized tires are exactly what I want to run next year
I'm running 245/75/16" MTRs currently and am running a roughly 2 1/4" lift (3" rear)
and yes I had to cut splash guards and in fact had to remove my front bumper (new one being made)

However... a different approach than yours... as I am running stock control arms... I have a bit of tire rub at full lock

how is the rub w/ the Calmini lift?

I am planning on doin my 2" BL from RRO shortly, and hopefully zukination's lift will be ready by next summer for a total 6" of lift

if I do not run 235/85/16.... Trxus has a set of MT's which are 255/85/15's which measure to a  33 x 10" tire which I'd like to run

as I do have the 2.0L... I will have to run 5.38 gears, do an exhaust mod to provide adiqute power to use as a daily driver
03' 2.0L CAMI Tracker w/ 1.5" Front Spacers, 2" Rear Spacers, 1 & 1/4" poly-rubber rear spacer w/ hose clamps, Monroe Crown Vic interceptor rear shocks,1/4" bumpstop extenders, 1.5" strut Extenders, removal of sway bar and strut bar + plenty of cutting for 245/75/16 Goodyear MTRs

Euro-Esc... Is what we coined years back when Landi's were running tires that were tall, not wide.
