Need to replace head gasket.....

Ok,

Never did this before, So what gaskets will I need other than the head gasket?
Also is there anything else part wise I should consider replacing while it is apart and
if I need a new head if its warped or cracked, where would you recommend
getting a rebuilt head?

Buy you a head gasket set off ebay, i just done this a couple of weeks ago.
You will save about $30.00 and theses gaskets are just as good as your parts store. Its all you need. Good Luck.............Swifgriff

While the head is off you should regrind the valve eats and fit new stem seals, you should get new seals in the head gasket set. I'd replace the timing belt while it is apart.

Thanks for the help. I really don't know how to regrind the vavle seats, is it expensive
to have someone else do it?? If so would it be better to just get a reman'd head?
Also is any brand of gaskets better than others??

I think I saw that hawk has the rebuilt head for the best price.I like the idea of having one ready to go because I don't have alot of time to run around to machine shops to get work done. I suppose you save by taking yours in but what a hassle.

I don't know how good Hawk's head is for reliability and performance. Maybe someone here has tried one or knows the best option for a rebuilt head.

I saw Hawks head too and I don't know if mine is warped or has a crack. I am hoping
it is just the blown gasket. Hawk is only 45 minutes from home, so if I need one I can get
one quick. Hopefully a new head won't start blowing fluids out of other places. I don't
know how common that is with a head swap. Anyone have any experience with a head
from HAwk......

Getting the valve seats re-ground isnt that expensive. If your seats are that bad they will pull them out and press new seats in then grind them to spec. Thats what they do at my friends Engine shop. If you break the engine down all the way, then take it to the engine shop, its about half the price. So you save a lot of money that way.
