Went down and picked up the axles I bought from locjaw (jason).
Got ...
the front diff housing
front third (with 5.12's)
both front half shafts
a set of manual hubs
rear third (with 5.12's)
rear axel housing
both rear axels,
drums and brakes
So I have thirds to get my gearing from 4.62 to 5.12, will get some lock in them while they are on the bench. Also should have trail spares to cover breakage.
$270 (plus a tank of gas for the guzzler silverado). Not a *steal*, but I also don't feel like I got screwed with my pants on. I'd been quoted $250 for each third (plus $100 core) at hawks, $450 for both axels by someone parting a '96, $250 per axel from a wrecking yard ... those prices are just WRONG.
One bummer (but not too big a deal) is that the rear third doesn't have the ABS speed sensor (my trac does

). So, I'm going to have to defeat the ABS for a while (unless it's not too hard drill/tap and install the ABS sensor into a non-ABS third).
Orddering the spool and perhaps a lockrite next week. Will get some pics when I do the locker install.
