I was going to paint my grille and the section above the grill. problem is, i have a brush guard I cant figure out how to get off to get the grille off. so now I have a question for you folks. How to i remove the grille and the small body piece above the grill? the piece above it is the part the has the latch for the hood. it's the peice between the hood and the grill. I'd like to paint this too, but this is the part I need to remove to get the grille guard off to get to the grill to remove.

as stated in my signature, i have a 96 sidekick JX 4 door. should the process be pretty much the same for most geo/suzuki rides?

The header bar above the grill is held on by four (i think) screws that go into the backer that holds the lights and two screws on a brace in the center of the header.

Unfortunately, you have to take the grill out to get to the screws that hold the header on.  On a '96 Tracker, the grill is held on by one screw to the top of the center brace and two screws at the bottom of the grill.  You can see all the screws looking at the grill straight on.  (A Kick has two more screws on the "ears" that fit between the fender and the bumper.)

I found it easier to take out the screws at the bottom of the brace.  Once you take all the screws out and unclip the hood latch cable, the header, center brace, and hood latch easily lifts out as a unit.

Thanks for the tips. I found the screws under the hood previously, but after unscrewing them I was still unable to remove the piece. That's probably because I didnt remove the grill with the 1 (or 2) screws. I'll try it all again to see if it all can be removed with the new advice. Thanks.

Not meaning to steal this thread, but I need the clips that hold the grill in place. I busted my grill and want to replace it, but I hate to buy a new grill and then hold in place with tie wraps! Anybody know where I can buy these clips other than the junk yard?
