NEW_ZUKER

Hey there guys, a new zuker here (duh, didn't the name give it away) anyways im waiting on my engine block to come back from the machine shop so I can rebuild, and run my engine. I was just wondering how I should re-gear my new best buddy. I have read a few topics on getting lower diff. ratios, and getting lower t-case gearing. Now if I were to get lower t-case gears, I would still be putting a bit of strain on my ring and pinion. Also if I get my ring and pinion done, im puttin strain on my t-case ??? Or maybe I can do a little of both :P  I'm stuck between a rock and a hard spot. Ohh, maybe if I told you what was gonna be done with it, it would help the subject move easier. SPOA from SKY MFG. greasable shackles all around (.5 inch lift from shackles) and I cant decide wether to use my original spring pack, or go with the Trail Tough Bonz-eye 2" inch lifts springs??? (another thing I could really use the advise for) Also gonna use 31-32 inch tires, something thin of-course.The new addition to the family is going to be my daily driver, but I really want to put the hurting on those trails, so I am MORE than willing to give up street comfort. I'll stop now, thats more than enough from me, Im sorry Im just really jumpy and exited over my zook. Thanks a lot for the time, I really do appreciate any help I can get. ohh, by the way, the name's Armen pleasure to meet you all. :D

Hey Welcome to the insanity, I'm guessing you have a samurai, tell us more about it if you can and more how you wheel and what you wheel in like mud, rocks, etc. how much you can spend and what skills and tools do you have, that kinda thing, I have a couple of sammies a couple of kicks and an x-90 so ask away, you may not want to hear some of it like get rid of the 1.3 and put in a 1.6, get some rear springs and put them up front, over the knuckle steering,a better clutch, and t case gears for a start and go from there, I like the trail tough gears for there street maners, they have a better high range, 5 to 1's or 6.1 to 1's are nice, 4.16 to 1's if on a buget and thats just the begining but it is cheaper to do it once, have fun.
1987,1988,1988,1990 samurai's,  1953 m38a1,  1996 x-90,blue.1996 x-90 red.1994 2 door tracker.   only Dead Fish go with the flow.                No Hairy Nosed Wombats were ran over on the trail today.       My ZUK is Xenophobic.

Awesome guys, thanx for the replies. Well you guessed right, its a Samurai. Ive done mostly just trail runs cuz my current "rig" and everyday driver is an '02 tundra v8 4wd, and all I have is coil over front susp. (2.5 inch lift) and a block in my rear with billstein 5150 absorbers. But what I tried and loved is rocks, big fat rocks. I love mud aswell, but only in someone els's car, cuz i hate the cleanup 8)   my skills... I worked at a junkyard for about 5-6 months taking stuff appart, and putting back together (mostly jeeps, and the fj every once in a while) I weld fairly good for someone with no training. Know how to tig, mig, stick, and torch, all self tought, but i own a mig welder (easy and good for what Im planning on doin.) The car was not soo great when i got It, bought in in Big Bear, CA, and drove 120 miles back home, the body is great, has a few dings here and there and the stock factory paint!!!(in great cond.) tranny is good, t-case is good, shifts like butter, and the diffs and axles dont leek or creek (my pers. fav.) I was doing abour 85 mph all the way here, at about 4500-4800 rpm's.  The engine gave out on me about 4 days ago(overheat, no doubt thanks to my driving ;D  ), so I'm wating to finnish rebuilding it at the momment. And im thinking of slapping in some dodge 318 motor mounts instead of originals (unless u guys have anything thats works better, i have a feeling you do ;D  )  probly gonna keep the stock 4-banger, just to prove people wrong (not you guys of course) but deff. going for OT.T. steering, and a cluch for sure. Im on somewhat of a budget, but I would rather spend money and do it right the first time. once again, thanks for the time guys
