why does mine have no wear marks on it but his has gaping holes? doesnt that mean something isnt aligned right? is that SUPOSED to happen  ???

What?  You cover doesn't have the breather holes :o  You need those breather holes.

If you want, I'll trade covers with you, and then I can just cut breather holes in your cover with my special "breather hole template"   ;)  


Someone said that when the cover gets oil on it, it warps.  I don't know if that was the cause or not, but mine was definitely exposed to lots of oil and it is definitely warped.  That's why the W.P. pulley and the belt wore holes in it.

Yeah, I got to replace mine after the tensioner broke and blew the side of it apart!  :o

i wouldnt recomend running without a timing cover.  my son had a strong running 16v w no cover.somthing got between belt and pully and jumpped timing at about 5000rpm, bent all of the valves. i didnt run a cover,now i do
