« on: May 16, 2007, 09:49:44 PM »
Hey guys!

I have a chance to buy a smashed tracker with both diffs, motor, trany, transfercase, wiring and such else.. I was wondering if it will have 5.13 gears? it is a 5 speed! Also it is missing the distriputer, and im thinking it throttle body? what would i need to do to get it to run? Can i use my pony carb? and as for the gears? what do i need to do to use them? Do i nned to buy another set of fronts for my rear?

Teck book says 5.12, anything else was a special option.

its a 2 door!! I will still need another set of front gears right? And is the motor fuel injected? Im thinking it might be throttle body injection? Will the ditributer work off my 1.3?

It'll be TBI. The dizzy off the 1.3 won't be a straight swap although it  might be possible to rewire it make it work.

I haven't done a swap, but if you are planning on putting this motor into a sammy, first you will need to put back the missing bits like the distributor and throttle body, then to swap it over, you will need the ECM and ECM harness. They will have to be adapted to work in the sammy which means you will need to do a lot of re-wiring of the harness...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

You need the wiring, the O2 sensor, the ECU with its bracket and relays. An EFI pump, the Vehicle Speed Sensor from the speedo and the Manifold Pressure Sensor off the bulkhead. You will probably also need the coil

I  read somewhere that if you want to run a carb on a 1.6, you will need to use the 1.3 head and manifolds.  Not sure though.  It would certainly simplify and reduce the cost of the swap.

I have the 1.3 intake on a 1.6 8V, the carb is a bit small for the 1.6 but it all fits OK. If its an EFI model then you'll need a low pressure fuel pump. I opened out the porting to suit the 1.6 head a bit better. The 1.3 dizzy can be used but you need to change the housing too.
