I've heard from many people that I will have to extend my gear shifter for this lift, and my transfer case shifter, but an extension comes for that. I've come up with a way where I don't have to weld on an extension. What my brother is going to do is have the shifter straightened out, not all the way but most, then put a double threaded pipe onto the top of the shifter where the knob goes. And if necessary, so that the shifter will not hit the center console when shifting to 2nd, 4th, or reverse, cut into the console so it can shift. It should most likely work. I was just wondering if there were any other ways of getting out of welding an extension on. I'm pretty sure that this one will work, but just wondering if anybody else had used any other methods.

He just removed the shift knob, shoved in an old screwdriver and tack-welded it in place...

Why do you not want to weld on the extension? If you do not have a welder, you can remove the shifter and take it and the extension to any shop and they will tack weld it for next to nothing.

The Tranny shifter can be heated and bent to clear with no extensions. It just takes a few tries to get it to fit properly.

A friend of mine just straightened his tranny shifter as well, and cut back the floor about an inch. The t-case one he straightened, and extended by 2", and cut the floor. It's all covered up by the console plastics, you can't tell. That's one good thoing about these rigs, it's not too noticable when they have a body lift.

A BIG HELP, is to put your shifter boot back in upside down.

What about the shifter, did he have to cut back the floor at all for that one? I think I might have to.
