Best lift for a 97 4 door side kick

Been a long time Samurai guy and now I picked up a 4 door side kick. I would like to hear what lift you guys like and use on your sidekicks. I very much know I will get many answers as to what is the best and I would like to use that info to help me figure out what I will do with my sidekick. So far I like the Rocky-road combo the best.

If you like the rocky road kit have at it. The real question is what are you going to do with the truck after it is lifted? The rocky road kit is just a maxed out OME suspension it does alright off road but it is not the best as far as performance goes. For that you want the Calmini Kit however it all depends on what you are going to ask the truck to do once the lift is installed. Dave

probably the best lift out there is the calmini 3" and replace the struts and shocks that come with it with OME stuff. the OME struts made a HUGE difference to the ride of mine.

If you want the ultimate then get the Trail tough Trail slayer toyota axle conversion kit! :D

I plan to put a locker in it and use it as a toy here in Ohio. My goal is to have a roomy off roader that goes places it should not be able to. My old Samurai was unstopable and I would like to get this truck 3/4 as capable as my Sammy

I put 2" coil spacers all around on my 97 and a 3" body lift. That works goos for me, but it sounds like you want to go a little more hardcore. If you want coil spacers I make and sell them.

So you want a hard core off road machine! That being the case you have two choices.

the Calmini 3 inch with the modifications discussed on this board and the Hagen modifications in the tech archives. a fully modified Calmini 3 inch on a sidekick will out perform any other IFS kit out there. in fact, in my opinion, a stock Calmini 3 inch kit will out perform any other IFS kit out there.

The TrailTough straight axle kit will turn it into a monster, its a very fine kit. There have been reports that a Sidekick with the TrailTough kit will out perform a fully built Samurai. Dave

i wanted a track kick for years, but i HATE IFS, so i wouldnt buy one. instead, i drove a sami, suffering from the small size of my DD... so when i saw the trail tough trail slayer in a catalog, i put my sami up for sale the week after... i should get my axles back from having the brakets welded on this week, then takin em to the powertrain shop for the gears... then my tracker gets SAS'd... to me, that is the BEST route!  ;)

   The trail slayer kit is definately top dog.Other than that,the OME kit ogffers by far the best ride and handling,but the Calmini offers more lift.I run the ome and love it.

Trail slayer should be top dog at the price it is. looks like a nice set up, but more money than I care to spend. Any good place on this site to see some pics of a sidekick with a lift and specs as to what the lift is? Like a readers rig section?

not sure about here, but if you go to bbs.zuwharrie.com, there is a sticky in IFS tech.

i agree, the trail slayer is more than i care to spend, but i am too far invested already to back out. lol

there are a lot of extras in my build i am encountering. complete brake rebuild front and rear, so i might as well upgrade while i am at it... gearing, sandblasting and painting the axles. tires, rims... etc, etc... it is getting pricey.

you can lift your rig enough to clear 31s or 32s by installing a 3" body lift and a set of coil spacers with the strut mount flip and (not sure what year) crown vic rear shocks. you can probably get that done for less than 4 bills i would think...
