Well, I'm trying to help my Brother-in-law who is a great guy but in a bad finical situtation and has no mechanical skills what so ever. He needs to put money on the table for the kids and family. Sorry about the sob story, but I need to help him out.
He called me today to ask if he could have his 93 4x4 5 speed tracker towed to the my house.
Poor guy, he had no clue. He said he was going down the freeway and heard a loud band that made him jump out of his seat. He said that he could not get the tracker to move even though it ran fine. It was also dripping oil from the differential.
So I had my Triple AAA tow his tracker to the house, so I could take a look at it.
The rear driveshaft was missing and his transfer case was cracked, leaking oil. Again, he is not to mechanically inclined and called the Trans/transfer case a Diff. But he will get the hang of it someday.
In my haste to find him some parts, I was wondering if somebody could give me a quick answer on what years trackers and Sidekicks will have the same 4x4 5 speed trans that is the same as his 93?
Also, I assume the transfer case and 5speed trans can be seperated?
I plan on buying the driveshaft and transfercase for him, since he's low on cash and needs a quick turn around without paying labor and high prices at an autoshop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
