samurai buildup idea? comments?

ok well i decided not to sell the zuk and build it up since i didnt go to the school i thought i was going to. i am starting with an 88 samurai stock everything, rebuilt bottom end and clicky starter fix kit. this is what i start with, this is what i want to end with....

88 samurai
chevy vortech v6 with th200 trans from lightning conversions, its going to be the whole kit(drive shafts, radiator, pumps, pulleys, crossmembers, belts)you can see more   at....http://www.suzukiconversion.com/suzuki_kits.htm
toyota fj 60 front and rear axles
4.1 t-case gears
38 in tires
still leaf sprung, spoa

i will strip everything off the vehicle and have the frame blasted and coated or painted, as well as clean up the axles, rebuild them, gusset them etc. my dad and I have the fabricating skills necessary to swap axles without the need of the kits but my question is steering issues. i have never set up a steering system on anything before so most of its greek to me. i was wondering wether or not i should do power or something else like hydro steering, it might be overkill but would be cool! also what do i need to hook up drive shafts? what company makes drive shaft adapters?  i might do square drive shafts because thier immense strength but have not decided.

budget for the build is 10k, i already have the axles  and the vehicle as well as all the steel and material for the build ie:welder, gas, grinder etc. the engine setup is going to cost me about 5.5k  for the setup. what do you think of this plan?feel free to offer advice, critique it, or just say what you think about it.

I'd only question 2 things in your plan ...

1) Motor choice
A vortec v6 is plenty of power but LOTSA weight. Plus sounds like it's gunna cost ya LOTSA $$$ ...
Gear it right and a lightweight I4 will be plenty.

2) Leafs
With the work you're talking about, go links and air shox ...

IMO, better to spend the motor money on a better suspension. Just easier to motor swap later (e.g watch for some wrecked zuk V6 you can get).

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

Buy-it, Build-it, Beat-it, Part-it

trust me i would love to keep the 4 banger and mod it for power but how cool would a v6 sami be? that is a good idea you got, maybe coils or the quarter elliptical rear and coil front but then i need a good peppy engine to push me around
