3K isn;t high ... it's the center of the power band

i have 235's, and it is definatly slower than the weenie stock tires, so i can only imagine how long it must take you guys with the bigger tires to get up to 55....i know a tracker isnt a sports car, but geez....could definatly use a couple more squirrels under the hood....and i even have a fresh re-ringed and bearing'd motor with a cold air intake, fresh tune up, no cat, and 2" pipes....not too much pep after 45...maybe i need some gears??

The thing I've always wondered was why didn't Suzuki put a tad bigger engine in there kicks?  I'm mean it probably would be the same gas mileage as if they put maybe an engine in it with like 100-110 hp...Just because our little engine have to work soooo hard to get up hills, etc.  The injectors are just pouring fuel into the cylinders with a floored pedal but that extra fuel in there is barely helping out.  It just bugs me to know I only have 85hp  :-\

Seriusly, My father's V10 F-250 get's like 14mpg up hill, down hill, towing bricks, a trailor or empty. If I even have portly friends riding shotgun in my tracker I can feel the difference in economy. It seems like if they had a more powerfull motor then they could average better economy just by reducing engine load.  I think when the EPA does it's CAFE testing they do it empty and driven by a moonlighting horse jockey or something.     NMc
On 235s 5spd 5.12s  I'm at about 73 mph |removethispart|@ 4K RPM and 6 mph drop for every 500 rpm below that. (radar sighns help to figgure)   It also runs most happily 55-60ish.

I have a 16v auto ( 3speed w/ torque converter lock up) and I run it at 4k on the expressway. I'm also running 31 AT's, 5.13 gears. That works out to 70mph gps'd. At that speed I can go up most grades without slowing down at all. Getting 24 mpg average. That's also without the turbo, as I blew an oil seal so it's out for rebuilding.

Mine's the same, ~3000 |removethispart|@ 90km/h... that's just purring ;)
I don't find mine starving for power at all, even with the 31" tires it doesn't feel much different than the 235's. My fuel consumption didn't change either, in fact, it went up, I'm still filling the tank 20 litres for 200km's on the odometer, but with the larger circumference tire, I'm actually travelling further ;)

just wanted to make sure...ive had the thing for almost a year, but i used to mainly stick with dirtroads as my way to travel. no knocking from my engine now so ive been taking regular roads, and ive definatly noticed this...slowest vehicle i own....but it sure is fun in nasty weather like i totally wanted it to be....after all...it is my winter beater....d.d. till i know its all good mechanically...
