Sami on-board air
« on: September 16, 2007, 09:32:43 PM »
It's time to install an on-board air system in my 86 sami.  I'm going to use a York compressor.  These compressors are pretty large bout 5x5x9. (I would use the factory pump but don't want to put in a oiler and oil/water sep. plus I want more airflow to run simple airtools).  Does any body have any ideas on how to mount them or any pictures of their set-ups to give me and others some ideas.  The drivers side is the most likely place to mount it, using the original a/c holes. Any ideas would be helpful!

I was going to run an ac comp on mine but the power steering belt kept slipping on runs going slow so I went electric instead, if you go any farther out on the crankshaft the snout of the crank may break off trying to get it's own pully,I broke the end off of a 429 ford once doing that, a sammie I would think would have an even smaller crankshaft, I would do the maintenance on the rig befor I left for the trails and leave that heavy comp at home.
