OIL PUMP
« on: October 29, 2007, 01:31:54 PM »
Im replacing the gasket for the oil pump on a sammy.  The book says to fill the cavity with patroleum jelly. Do I just start packing it in there like im packing bearings?  I cant imagine that oil will be able to flow once thats all in there.  Please help.

Thanks.

Yes, just fill it in between the cogs or whatever design it is.  It will create good suction for when the engine does start, and it will blend in with the hot oil when it warms up, and turn back to oil basically.
