transfer case e-brake
« on: October 07, 2007, 05:19:00 PM »
Does any one know if the Sky Manufacturing transfer case e-brake will fit on a Sidekick / Tracker with a toyota case?  The case is stuffed so far in the tunnel I'm not sure the e-brake will have room, especially considering that I had to use a hammer to make room for the front output. I'm running a OTT Kicker2 with a Toyota transfer case.  I want to do a disc brake conversion, and was thinking of going with Sky Manufacturing’s transfer case e-brake. http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Normally the Transfer Case E-Brake bolts right onto the back of the Samurai transmission.  So it probably won't work with a Toyota transfer case out of the box.

However All Pro makes an E-Brake for the Toyota cases.  You can find a review over here.

Thanks - Sky makes one as well, but I also checked out AllPro after reading your post. My concern is that I wont have room for the lever with how low that floor hangs down in the Sidekick.  It looks like it will fit ok, but I'd hate to order it and have it not fit.  It would be nice if I could hear from someone that's done a Sidekick SAS with either the RingR or Kicker2 who has used one of these t-case e-brakes.

Body lift to clear the e-brake?

I didn't know Sky made a kit, all the posts I found just mentioned the AllPro one.  :)

You could ask the dimensions from Sky and use some cardboard cutouts to check clearances.

A body lift would do the trick, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

I called and got the rotor diameter, which is 8".  It's close, but that would clear all the way around.  As long as the lever mechanism doesn't hang out any wider than the front output drop I'm ok.  I think either one would will work.  I'll call both Sky and AllPro to check their return policies before ordering.
