its a nice option but i diddnt see anything about it either. ill keep it with me though. could prove useful. not that pulling the valve cover takes much more time. but i guess its just as easy to time it off of 4 as it is 1. saves from having to possably replace the gasket anyway. kinda like the paper trick too but i usualy just screw a spark plug in a couple of threads and listen for the hiss.

hey whats wrong with needing a hug?

No worries. It is just a saying that I have heard on H-101 that seemed too fit this. ;) 8)

And remember if you check the valve position through the oil fill hole on #4 that #1 will be 180 degree's out from where the dist. is.

1. Take the valve cover off and examine the position of the valves at cylinder #1. ........
  Replace the valve cover.

I always assumed that the FSM states to time it up at no.4 so you could just look down the oil filler hole to see if the valves were closed. I guess you could look to see if they were open but either way I don't believe that you need to remove the cover.

A valve cover gasket is cheap and it's not that big of a deal to remove the valve cover. Probably a good time to adjust the valves anyways. Don't you think?
